The Piano Duet Luca A.M Colombo and Sugiko Chinen was formed in 1995, and has since its very beginning been devoted to works for piano four hands written by French and Italian composers from the first half of 20th century, later extending its interests to the whole repertoire written for this ensemble.

The duet has been awarded in several international competitions, and received the First Prize in the 14th edition of the European Music Competition «Città di Moncalieri». It has performed in Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Poland and Japan, where Colombo and Chinen have performed regularly since 1995. Since 2011, the duet is the resident ensemble of the chamber music season «Musica Poesia», organized by the Associazione Notturno, for which it regularly gives concerts in Milan. At present, Colombo and Chinen are also working on a CD dedicated to French music for piano duet.

Luca A.M Colombo studied in Milan with Midori Kasahara and Mario Panciroli, graduating from the Conservatorio «A. Vivaldi» in Alessandria. He later studied in Rimini with Alfredo Speranza, and attended masterclasses held, among others, by Lazar Berman, Vitaly Margulis and Aldo Ciccolini.
In addition to his musical studies he also took a degree in Physics, graduating at the Università degli Studi in Milan.
He was awarded in national and international competitions, thus beginning an intense musical activity performing in Europe (Italy, Spain, France, England and Austria), USA, and Japan. His particular interest for the chamber music repertoire led him to found a piano duet with his wife Sugiko Chinen.
In 2009 he released his first cd, with the clarinetist Raffaele Bertolini, dedicated to the music of Astor Piazzolla. In the same year, he gave a recital in New York with Raffaele Bertolini and the flutist Yuri Ciccarese, and a gala concert in Okinawa with his wife Sugiko Chinen and the participation of the Okinawa Rossini Choir.
During the last years, he has performed as a soloist with the Orchestra dell’Assunta in Vigentino, the Camerata Angelopolitana in Milan and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra in the Czech Republic. In 2001 he founded “Notturno”, an association devoted to classical music concerts and cultural activities in Milan and Japan. Furthermore, since 2009 he collaborates with the «Amilcare Ponchielli» association in Busto Arsizio, taking care of the concerts as artistic and musical director.
