The Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Oslo will screen the documentary (in Ukrainian with English subtitles) on Friday 24 February at 6:30 pm at the Italian Cultural Institute, in Oscarsgt. 56. On the first anniversary of the beginning of Russian aggression, this event is part of ongoing solidarity initiatives for Ukraine.
Through this powerful documentary we get to witness the work of five heroic women helping their people on the edge of war. A non-violent act of revolutionary kindness and human solidarity is displayed in Kordon, with hope as a weapon against horror.
Kordon is directed by Italian director Alice Tomassini – recently appointed to the Forbes 30under30 European Media list for her work on social storytelling – the film was awarded ‘Best Documentary Feature’ at the ‘UK Film Festival London’ as well as ‘Best film on international topics’ at the Film Festival of Rome 2022.
The documentary film “Kordon” narrates the story of five ordinary women doing extraordinary things to help and give hope to Ukrainian refugees at a train station on the Ukrainian and Hungarian border.
“Kordon” is a perfect portrait of female resistance, courage and solidarity. These women are fighting a non-violent war, at the border. Their stories are mirrored in those of the millions of women and children who had to leave their country to flee the war.
