The Italian City – Urban Space and Rappresentation is an Interdisciplinary Conference which will focus on the city and the linguistic, literary and cinematic representation of urban space, by encouraging a debate with urban and social sciences.
In the three-day conference, we aim at fostering and enhancing, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the investigation of both internal and external social dynamics; the complex relationships between urban space and human beings; the reconfiguration of the Italian urban linguistic repertoire towards an increasingly more composite neo-multilingualism; the literary and cinematic images of the city and its diverse facets; the various communicative and interpersonal situations between people from different communities; the exchange between native people and migrants coming from diverse geographical and social contexts, passers by and commuters, representatives of different generations and genders, all bearers of a distinctive identity.
The guest lecturers are:
Nicoletta Maraschio, Professor of History of Italian Language at the University of Florence and President of the Accademia della Crusca from 2008 to 2014
Pietro Trifone, Professor of Italian Language at the University of Rome «Tor Vergata»
Giulio Giovannoni, Researcher at the University of Florence, Department of Architecture
