Også i år har vi den glede av å samarbeide med Progetto Suono Italiano – CIDIM – Comitato Nazionale Italiano Musica, som har som formål å fremme unge italienske talenter. På årets første treff, får vi høre duoen Valerio Scarano på fiolin og Francesco Maccarone ved flygelet.

Valerio Scarano was born to Brescia (Italy) on 26 july 2003. Currently he is a full-time Academic Master Degree student at Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano where he studies violin with maestro Mauro Loguercio. Valerio has partecipated at nine violin competitions always winning the first prize: XXV Concorso Internazionale Rovere d’Oro 2010 di San Bartolomeo al Mare, I Concorso Internazionale Mozart di Quinto Vicentino 2011, III Concorso Internazionale Città di Treviso 2011, XXIII European Music Competition Città di Moncalieri 2011, VI Concorso Nazionale Città di Piove di Sacco 2013, XXI Concorso Internazionale 2013 di Cortemilia, XX Concorso Nazionale Città di Giussano 2015 (where he won also the special prize “Gabrio Piola” destinated to the younger
competition candidate), I Concorso Nazionale Città di Cremona 2016, III Premio del Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano 2017. Valerio has been younger musician in the history of Teatro Grande di Brescia to play a public
concert having debuted at 7 years old as soloist with the Orchestra of Conservatorio Luca Marenzio. Valerio has played several times as soloist with L’Incanto Armonico chamber orchestra, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, one the most important Italian orchestras, and recently with Severoceska Filharmonie Teplice in Czech Republic and touring with Orchestra Giovanile Alpina
in Italy and Slovenia. In march 2019 he won the audition at RCO Young, the new 14 – 17 age orchestra of the Royal
Concergebouw in Amsterdam, and in august of the same year he attended class, masterclass, chambre music with Concertgebouw Principals and two symphonic concerts conducted by Pablo Heras Casado with the partecipation of Julian Rachlin in Brussels and Amsterdam.
Currently he is studing at Language Institution “Lunardi” in Brescia (Italy). Valerio plays a precious violin attribuited to Santo Serafino 1715, courtesy of Luisa FolonariMaterzanini of Brescia.
Born in 1997 in Aosta, Italy, Francesco Maccarrone studied piano from an early age, having inherited a passion for music from his uncle Domenico Clapasson, a pianist and composer. At the age of 9, he was admitted to the «Giuseppe Verdi» Conservatory in Turin, in the class of Claudio Voghera, under whose guidance he graduated in 2016 with top marks and honors. In the same year he obtained a high school diploma at the Binel Viglino Lyceum in Pont Saint Martin, where he lives. He also followed Masterclasses with pianists Benedetto Lupo, Andrea Lucchesini, Pavel Gililov and Aleksandar Madzar. He is currently enrolled in the Pinerolo Music Academy with Gabriele Carcano. He took part in many competitions, winning in 2008 the 1st Prize at the XIII National
Instrumental Competition «Città di Giussano»; in 2009 the 1st absolute Prize at the VII National Music Competition «Comune di Cantalupa»; in 2010 the 1st Prize at the XXV
National Piano Competition «J. S. Bach – City of Sestri Levante» and in 2013 the 1st absolute Prize at the XXVIII National Piano Competition «J. S. Bach – City of Sestri Levante». He played in many recitals in different Italian towns, such as Venaria Reale, for the
«Musica a Corte» Festival in the Royal Palace, and Vercelli, for the Camerata Ducale (winning
the audience award for best concert). He also played several times for the prestigious Concert
Seasons of the Unione Musicale in Turin in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2015 he opened the concert season for the Turin Conservatory as a soloist performing
the Chopin’s First Piano Concert in E minor op. 11 with the Orchestra of the Conservatory Students directed by Giuseppe Ratti. He was then invited by the Fiat Managers Group to replicate the same Concert at the Lingotto Theater in Turin for the traditional spring concert.
In 2017 he won the «Premio Stefano Tempia» and «Talenti Musicali» scholarships of the CRT foundation. In 2018 got the grant «De Sono» plus the fellowship by the «International Music Academy» of Liechtenstein, thanks to which he was allowed into the «Intensive Week» with Maestro Pavel Gililov. In the same year he was invited by the Ministry of Culture of Bahrain to hold a recital in
the capital city, Manamah. Took part in several chamber music collaborations, like the one with mezzo soprano
Laura Capretti, cellist Davide Maffolini, and violinist Francesco Bagnasco. Presently attending classes of the above-mentioned musicians at the Master Course of Chamber Music, Music Academy G. Verdi in Turin.
