Pint of Science 2023

The Pint of Science festival aims at delivering exciting and engaging talks on the latest science and research discoveries in an accessible and fun format to the public – all in the pub!
This year the Festival the Oslo edition will last from May 22 – 24 at 18.00 and will take place at the House of Nerds at Vulcan. See the entire program here.

On May 24 the Festival hosts the Italian scientist Emanuela Di Martino, who will talk about:
Moss-animals: charming obscure creatures you’ll like to know
Biodiversity conservation is today’s top priority but how can we preserve something we don’t know? Bryozoa or moss-animals, a super diverse group of aquatic invertebrates with >6000 extant and >15000 extinct species, are obscure to the public. Colonial as corals, Bryozoa appeared worldwide 300 million years before dinosaurs. Let’s discover their scientific use from climate change to medical research.

The aim of the Festival is to provide a platform that allows people to discuss research with the people who carry it out. It is run by volunteers and was established by a community of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in 2012. The main festival takes place annually over three days in May simultaneously in pubs across the world. Pint of Science is a non-profit organisation.
