Corale – con Enrico Degani Trio

CoraleTrioJazz_2.10.25

Corale a walk barefoot in the woods hearing a distant chanta night in October, the colors of nature gently turning to red, yellow and soft brown…

È davvero un grande piacere aprire la stagione concertistica autunnale con questo concerto con Enrico Degani Trio. “Corale is an enchanting journey where no words are needed”, come diceva la stampa all’uscita dell’album, e stasera avremo occasione di ascoltare le canzoni qui raccolte, avvolti da colori autunnali e un’atmosfera onirica.

“Corale takes its first steps in 2015 among Italian western Alps and the endless plain fulfilled of rice cultivation”, Enrico Degani tells. “At that time Corale was mostly an Italian guy dream about Nordic landscapes and ancient sounds. Rooted on the classical guitar sound and listening to Lena Willemark, Anders Jormin and John Taylor it slowly grew up the music of Corale. Snow lakes, personal mountains and starry nights in the woods draws the boundaries of Corale. To take a walk barefoot in the woods and hearing a distant chant, this is what I imagined while I was composing Corale.”

Then he met Diana Torto and her stunning voice and so the dream started to come true. They immediately got in great connection and in the making process they felt the need to give a freeform to the music and so they looked for an instrument which could freely move
from the bottom sounds up the melody lines and decided to improve the sound whit another wind instrument, a kind of another voice but this time a voice coming directly from the woods. So a bass clarinet joined the project. And so the magic happened…

The night before the recording I was sleeping in a farmhouse near the studio. It was October, the colors of nature gently turning to red, yellow and soft brown. All around me fields and a small river. I couldn’t sleep too much since I was too excited so I wake up pretty early. I opened my window and in front of me a big red sun was dawning on the sleeping countryside, still breezing in the early morning. A slice of new coming winter came to greeting the recording and I thought: “Am I dreaming or am I awake?”. – Enrico Degani

“Enrico Degani is a poet with a guitar. On his latest album Corale, Degani crafts wind-swept images of transcendent beauty. It is modern jazz at its most atmospheric and dreamlike. Based in Sweden, Degani discusses how his affection for music propelled him to becoming an
artist himself.” – NoDepression Roots culture and music
