Un incontro cinematografico. In programma nuovi documentari di registi italiani di grande talento e incontri con i registi.
From a mystical Rome to the untold past of the Pompeii ruins, from Italy’s borders to the Balkan route, carrying lives and hope across Europe: Italia-Oslo Express is a showcase of contemporary auteur cinema that spotlights talented Italian directors and their unique depiction of reality.
The event will screen two documentaries from the prestigious Venice Biennale programme: Agnus Dei (Biennale College Cinema) by Roman director Massimiliano Camaiti, and Below the Clouds (Biennale, In Competition) by documentary master Gianfranco Rosi.
The showcase will close with the screening of two projects signed by the Italian directors-trio Gabriele Licchelli, Francesco Lorusso, Andrea Settembrini: Blackout Dreams (short, IDFA) and Go, Friend, Go (Festival dei Popoli), which will take us beyond Italy’s borders, along the routes traced by refugees across Europe, and then, much further, to a nocturnal black&white Cuba.
Last but not least, the event will also pay homage to one of the few female Italian artist of experimental cinema during the 60’s/70’s, Marinella Pirelli, screening her film-experiences (as she used define them) Bruciare (Burn) and Sole in Mano (Sun in My Hand).
Documentaries aim to create dialogue, and spark debate between different cultural and social contexts: following this spirit, there will be a curated Q&A with the directors at the end of every screening.
The event is made possible with the support of Istituto Italiano di Cultura Oslo and Comites, and curated by photographer and film worker Sonia Ladidà.
