We are pleased to cooperate with Mirage – Festival for the Art of Cinema which presents several Italian elements and connection on this year’s edition. There will be screenings of new Italian films, of Classic Italian short films and as special guest of the Festival, we’ve invited director Tommaso Santambrogio.
Tommaso Santambrogio is nominated for the MIRAGE Directing Award, for his magnificent film Oceans Are the Real Continents. The Awards are decided by our special one-person jury system, where one respected professional for each Award-category will decide and hand out the award, as a gesture from one artist to another. See the film on Saturday October 12 at 21:00. Conversation with the filmmaker Santambrogio after the screening.
A remarkable and cinematic film that provides a sensual rendering of both past and present Cuba.
The Festival presents the Norwegian premiere of Roberto Minervini Cannes-main competition fiction-hybrid; The Damned. Screenings: October 11 at 17.00; October 13 at 21:00.
If it were possible to send a camera crew back into the past, the result would be something close to what Minervini delivers in this quietly intoxicating and existentially real war movie.
In a collaboration with the Cineteca di Milano, the Festival will screen a large selection of Classic Italian short films from the Cineteca’s archive. The selection of film is curated by Matteo Pavesi. The films will be screened for free, in loop at the Festival’s cinema venue Vega Scene Lower Foayé. You can check the program here: Cineteca Milano Classics
Finally, the Milano based Sound Designer Attila Faravelli, who has made the incredible sound design for Kamal Aljafaris A Fidai Film is also nominated for the MIRAGE Sound Design Award, and will also be one of our 30+ guests at this years MIRAGE. Screenings: October 12 at 15:00 – Conversation with the sound artist Attila Faravelli after the screening; October 13 at 15:15.
“Images are not something that you make but something that you find.” This concept is at the core of Kamal Aljafari’s ideology, as he creates an immersive time-machine journey that reclaims stolen Palestinian heritage.
