New music for electric guitar with Luca Nostro

With six strings, pedals, amplifier, boom blaster and video, the Italian guitar virtuoso Luca Nostro shows why the electric guitar was the most important musical invention of the 20th century. As a soloist and ensemble musician, he has collaborated with a wide range of musical personalities, from jazz drummer and composer Tyshawn Sorey, via conductor Jonathan Stockhammer to composer Steve Reich.

The concert program extends from cult composer Fausto Romitelli via Scarlatti’s sobre rococo sonatas to Alessandro Ratoci’s electroacoustic universe.

Luca Nostro is active in contemporary jazz and contemporary classical music with commissions for festivals and arenas in the USA and Europe. Together with the PMCE – Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble in Rome, he has collaborated with composers such as Steve Reich, Frank Zappa, Jacob TV, Fausto Romitelli and John Adams for concerts at central Italian and international festivals such as Biennale Musica, Ars Musica, Accademia Santa Cecilia, Teatro del Maio Musicale, Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. He has been the curator of Sing the Body Electric, a series of concerts about electric guitar at the Ravenna Festival. As a composer and sound designer he collaborated with many visual artists and directors.

The concert is organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo.
